Module One: Creating Collaborative Communities
Course Introduction
Welcome to Creating Collaborative Communities and welcome to your Community of Practice! The goal of this course is to provide the knowledge and skills, plus practice using those skills, to facilitate online courses. Facilitation is the key to creating truly vibrant collaborative communities of practice.

Some of the terms used above such as facilitation, collaboration, and communities of practice may not yet be familiar. In this first module the definitions of these terms will be discussed.
Module One Objectives
Course participants will:
  • understand and apply key terms including facilitation, collaboration, and communities of practice
  • create connections with other course participants and be able to explain why such connections are an important part of building community
  • develop an instructor contact list and personal introductory message.

Before continuing take some time to thoroughly familiarize yourself with the course layout. There is an orientation mentioned in this week's "News." The news was on the first page you saw after logging in.
